Mt. Equity in 1889

While researching and cataloguing a collection of glass plate negatives circa 1895 Linda Wisniewski, graphics assistant at the Library Company of Philadelphia, came across these pictures of Mt. Equity taken by John H. Webster, an amateur photographer and Philadelphia surveyor. Webster's aunt, Hannah Mary Smedley Taylor, rented Mt. Equity during the summer months of 1889 and 1890, and these photographs appear to have been taken at that time. Click on the images to see a larger version.

Hannah Mary Smedley Taylor on her porch. The rise behind Mrs. Taylor (more clearly seen in the next picture) is presumed to be for access to a horse or a horse-drawn carriage.

Presumably Charles Ellis Ecroyd, son-in-law of Hannah Taylor.
